Ryan Sherwood-Ericsson, PTA, graduated from Mercyhurst University in 2014 with a Physical Therapist Assistant degree. Prior to Mercyhurst, he attended the State University of New York at Buffalo where he majored in Sociology. Ryan began shaping his love for health and physical therapy as an Erie McDowell High School Track & Field athlete and University at Buffalo football letterman. Through his trainers and coaches, he gained first-hand knowledge of how the body performs, and how to stay healthy despite injuries. Ryan eventually became a certified personal trainer with the National Council on Strength & Fitness (NCSF); he began training for several companies such as Fitness Together in Columbus, Ohio, Steiner Transocean out of London, UK, and Real Training & Fitness in Erie. It wasn’t until 2012 when he was accepted into Mercyhurst’s PTA program, that Ryan decided physical therapy was what he wanted to do. Since then, he has continued to train local high school athletes and has coached Track & Field for Fairview and Millcreek School District. Ryan is looking forward to learning much more at Hertel & Brown and remain active and involved in athletics throughout the community.
